Friday Coffee with PJ

This morning I am off to Glen Mills, PA (toward Philadelphia) to attend a book launch being sponsored by Westminster Bookstore. The featured new book is written by Kevin DeYoung, a pastor from Michigan (and I don't hold that against him!). It's title is, Taking God at His Word: Why the Bible Is Knowable, Necessary, and Enough, and What That Means for You and Me. So Kevin and three other men will be sharing about the sufficiency of God's Word.

Last month, when I received an email about this event, I immediately registered for it and invited several others to join me (three did take up the invite!). I believe one reason (of many) that so many Christians do not spend time in God's Word is because they do not really believe the Bible is sufficient to help us navigate through this thing we call "life." The sufficiency of the Word is under attack today . . . if not so much directly, indirectly. All that said, I am very much looking forward to spending time IN THE WORD today! For ...

Psalm 119:105  "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

2 Timothy 3:15-17  ". . .and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

So shortly, I will be heading off to the all-day workshop. And I trust I will return with a greater confidence in not just the Word of God ... but also the God of the Word!

Thanks for stopping by . . .
